ABOUT ME

Hey there, welcome. Thanks for being here. My name is Lee-Ann.

I am a daughter, a sister, a cousin, an aunt, a friend, a lover, a teacher, a student. In my natal chart, my sun is in Capricorn in the 12th house, my moon is in Gemini in the 5th and my ascendant is in Aquarius. I love learning and creating experiences that move us towards new ways of knowing and being. That to me is the essence of healing.

I am a settler on unceded Shawanaki lands, of Indo-European (Irish & Italian) ancestry. I’ve practiced healing arts for over twenty years. I began introducing energetic healing into my work with companion animals before “woo” was a word, and before I knew it’s history. Now I offer a feminist, globally and historically contextualized lens on healing and transformation, from a social work education that sought to center the knowledge of those who endured the most with the least.

In other words, I believe we are all our own best experts and with witnessing, support, and community we are capable of incredible things.

I pay close attention to the nervous system, including the specificities of the female nervous system. It helps us understand our own patterns and find a new connection to ourselves and our emotional experiences, that aren’t ruled by habits, patterns or survival instincts.

EDUCATION

After a rich undergraduate education in women’s studies, including work at the Kinsey Institute for Sex and Reproduction, my next teachers were illness and addiction, to both prescribed and illegal medicines. I have run the gamut of healing modalities in search of comfort in my body and peace in my mind. I finally found both when I became a better steward of my own vessel, listening to the story it was telling of personal, intergenerational and collective trauma and resilience, learning the rhythms of my hormonal cycles and my unique needs and desires.

Since then the world has been my school, and the people and lands of Croatia, South Africa, and Mexico, where I have lived, studied, and worked, have been my teachers. After earning a social work degree, my clients in community mental health care further taught me to invite in more truth about the world than my formal education did. So I went in search of the scholars, artists and activists that could help me support our emotional, spiritual, sociopolitical, psychosocial and educational needs. The process pushed me towards building my own practice where I now incorporate the tools that informed my own healing journey as well as others’.

APPROACH

I get to offer a space in which my formal and informal education, training, witnessing, studying and experiencing are in service to helping folks see and know themselves beyond who they’ve believed or been told they had to be, beyond the imprints that trauma and oppression have left on their body and soul.

I am now committed to supporting what I know is our birthright, that goes beyond basic wellness or even trauma recovery, and is often suppressed by the demands of our current systems: the right to express the gifts that are unique to us. Each one of us holds a secret knowing that is our privilege and responsibility to live into, to share and to teach from. It is my mission to support that expression.

I love what we are capable of building, being and teaching when we trust ourselves and our lived experiences.

  • I know we are powerful beyond measure when we trust our bodies’ knowing. When we make space for mystery. When we invite curiosity and awe. When we are willing to grieve and wail and rage and rest.
